Re: Welcome to the 2026 Hunter Mill Sharks Swim Team Season!
Welcome to the Hunter Mill Sharks Swim Team, and happy Memorial Day weekend! We are so happy to have you all join us this summer, and we have some great things planned!
As a reminder, swim practice for our Sharks begins this Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Prior to the end of school (following Fairfax County Public Schools school calendar), the afternoon practice will remain the same as last year. It will be as follows (Tuesday, May 26, 2026 – Wednesday, June 17, 2026):
4:00 – 5:00 pm : 13 – 18 years of age swimmers
5:00 – 5:30 pm : 8 years of age and under swimmers (no mini sharks)
5:30 – 6:15 pm : 9 – 10 years of age swimmers
6:15 – 7:00 pm : 11 – 12 years of age swimmers
For anyone who is unsure whether they qualify as a Shark or Mini-Shark, we are planning on holding assessments on the first day of afternoon practice, May 26, 2026, from 5:00-5:30pm, and throughout the first week. We would like any new Mini-Sharks, Mini-Sharks from last year, and/or anyone completely new to swim team to attend this assessment. If you cannot make this time, there will be rolling assessments as the morning practices begin.
The day following the last day of school, the schedule will change to the following (Thursday, June 18, 2026 – Tuesday, July 21, 2026):
8:00 – 9:00 am : 9 – 12 years of age swimmers
9:00 – 9:45 am : 8 years of age and under swimmers, including mini sharks
9:45 – 11:00 am : 13 – 18 years of age swimmers
Also, the weather forecast for this weekend and early next week calls for rain. As long as Hunter Mill Club is open, and there is no thunder or lightning, we will be having swim practice. Please keep an eye out for any emails or texts of any delays, changes, or cancellations.
A more detailed email with important meet dates, other events and activities, and volunteer information will be provided next week.
We know there is a ton of information, so if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. If you are brand new to swim team, or have been a member for years, we are more than happy to try and answer any questions you may have.
GO SHARKS!
